Shieldaig is a stunning, peaceful west coast village - a bit of a hidden gem.

Situated between the mountains of Torridon and the Applecross peninsular it is an ideal base for exploring this part of the Highlands known as Wester Ross. Castles & glens, mountains & lochs, whisky & seafood, scenic drives, mountain passes, sightseeing, arts & crafts, nature & birdwatching, spectacular walking whether high or low level - we have it all.

Shieldaig Main Street

In an elevated position at the top of Shieldaig village our large detached 2 storey modern house has commanding views of Shieldaig Island, up the length of Loch Torridon & out to sea. On a clear day we can see the Mountains on the Isles of Harris & Lewis. The village has a shop, bar (open all year) & restaurant (seasonal) within walking distance.

The house is finished to a very high standard, light & spacious, contemporary in style with soft nature inspired colours throughout. Local art, crafts & photographs gently suffuse the house, making it feel very homely. There are many extras such as a laptop in a little computer area, broadband connected (just away from the living room) & WiFi,

Upstairs there are 3 large ensuite 1st floor bedrooms which can sleep 8 in total;  1 kingsize and  2 superking sized (zip & link) rooms. A problem we often encounter when renting holiday cottages is that the beds can be rather uncomfortable & too small - not a problem here.

The comfortable living room with large plasma screen TV , satellite link & DVD is on the first floor. Large windows on 3 sides allow you to take in some of the best views & sunsets in the village.

The view from the living room

Downstairs the architect designed, floor to ceiling, glazed dining room opens out to decking. The entrance has a drying room fitted with ample shelving and seperate cloakroom. A very spacious, modern, fitted kitchen with Corian worktops also benefits from glazing on 3 sides so any cooking can be done whilst fully appreciating the views!

There is ample private parking and small garden front & rear, however ponds in the garden make it unsuitable for children under 8 years old. Sorry no pets - low allergen household.
